Rest and Digest: a Yin Yoga Workshop
Service Description
An Immersive Workshop with Shaila Cunningham Step into serenity at the Ford Family Gallery for this 90+ minute Yin yoga practice. Yin yoga has the power to release stress and tension on a level that surpasses regular yoga/stretching, but it takes time. Yin yoga is a slow, meditative practice targeting the body's fascia—the connective latticework that animates the body and impacts both the muscular and nervous systems. Most movement practices barely scratch the surface. This one dives in. We’ll explore longer-held poses supported by a multitude of props, mindful breathing (pranayama), and meditation to help your nervous system downshift into a true “rest and digest” mode—perfect to cut through the post-Thanksgiving turkey-coma. Instructor Shaila Cunningham trained with Paul Grilley, the founder of Yin Yoga and pioneer of merging Indian yoga with the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian system. Grilley’s work with Japanese scholar Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama forms the lineage of this rare and powerful practice. Few local teachers have trained with Grilley directly. Join us for an afternoon of deep release, nervous system recalibration, and matcha tea and snacks.
Upcoming Sessions
Cancellation Policy
You are purchasing the full session at the session rate. Missed classes can be made up at any other time/location; however, missed classes do NOT "roll over" into the next session. If you continue to renew, your make-up classes do rollover. To summarize: the only way to make up a class is to attend two classes in a week--one outside your normal class time.
